PLATEAU ENERGY METALS ANNOUNCES MAIDEN MINERAL RESOURCE ESTIMATE FOR FALCHANI LITHIUM DEPOSIT

Highlights of Lithium Mineral Resource Estimates by Category

The consolidated Mineral Resource estimates, based on a 0.1% Li2O cut-off grade are as follows:

Within the Li-rich tuff sequence, only:
Indicated Mineral Resources: 34.82Mt at 0.73% Li2O containing 0.63Mt Li2CO3 (equivalent)
Inferred Mineral Resources: 80Mt at 0.73% Li2O containing 1.41Mt Li2CO3 (equivalent)

Within the wider Li-rich package including the upper and lower breccia units:
Indicated Mineral Resources: 58Mt at 0.67% Li2O containing 0.67Mt Li2CO3 (equivalent)
Inferred Mineral Resources: 70Mt at 0.59% Li2O containing 1.76Mt Li2CO3 (equivalent)

-The footprint of the drilled, mapped and surface sampled Li-rich tuff unit extends up to 1,700 m (N-S) and 2,200 m (E-W)
-The maiden resource estimate is based on drilling that covers an area of 1,250 m (N-S) and 350 to 500 m (E-W) representing approximately 20% of the potential deposit area.
-The consistency of the Li grades over the wide intersections was highlighted by the Mineral Resource Consultant
Drilling continues at site to define additional Mineral Resources

Andean - Peruvian news agency

Lima, jul. 16

By Miguel De la Vega Polanco

Peru can start exporting lithium carbonate for 500 million dollars a year starting in 2021, if the Macusani project located in Puno is launched in the short term, said the head of operations of the Canadian company Plateau Energy Metals. , Laurence Stefan.

This morning the company Macusani Yellowcake SAC, subsidiary of Plateau Energy Metals, reported that the exploratory works in the Falchani deposit indicated proven resources of 2.5 million tons of lithium carbonate with high grade and 124 million pounds of uranium, in the area West.

Stefan said that the average price today of the ton of lithium carbonate in the international market is quoted at $ 12,500 and for purer products can rise to $ 18,000 a ton.

"We are going to start with 40,000 tons, my intention as a company is to produce 100,000 tons per year," he told Andina News Agency.

"It's 500 million dollars in advance, this is the minimum, and the goal is 100,000 tons per productive unit, which we can reach in a couple of years," he added.

In addition, Stefan said that in the area where they are exploring there are prospects of having much more lithium for a lifetime of the deposit of more than 100 years.

For his part, the general manager of Macusani Yellowcake, Ulíses Solis, said that the Macusani mining project is heading to become the largest lithium mine not only in South America, but also in the world.

The project located in the plateau of Macusani at 4,500 meters above sea level, contains lithic rock tuffs with a law of 3,500 to 4,000 parts per million, higher than the average of 500 ppm that are exploited in the salt located between Chile and Bolivia.

Also, Stefan stressed that Macusani becomes the first deposit in the world that contains lithium and uranium.

He said that prospects are good for lithium in the world market, as the production of electric cars, a trend that is gaining strength in the world, demand this mineral for the construction of the batteries of these vehicles.

He indicated that the official studies of the reserves will be announced in the coming weeks and the feasibility study of the lithium mining project will be ready for the fourth quarter of 2019.

Industrialization

Stefan also pointed out that the prospects for the industrialization of Peru in regard to lithium are good, because then a lithium refinery can be projected, and later aa lithium battery and electric car factory.

"If Peru enters the club of lithium producers, the first step is to make a refinery, at this moment 90% of the refineries are in China, why do not we do a refinery in Puno and the lithium of Argentina, Bolivia, and Chile, we bring it here, we purify it and export it for three years? Then we talk to the producers of electric cars so that they come to produce units in Peru, "said Stefan.

Means

The general manager of Macusani Yellowcake, Ulises Solis, said that in order to develop the integral project of exploitation of this deposit, "a law that regulates the exploitation of radioactive minerals" is needed, in order to be able to extract and export the uranium that also It is located in the area that has a concession.

In this regard, he said that they expect this legislation to move faster through the Executive, in order to start operations, which already have the support of the communities in the area, for the direct impact they will create in the area. .

Solis said that to date they have already invested 2 million dollars and hope to reach 18 million for exploration, environmental and archaeological studies.

"We need an initial investment of 800 million dollars to produce lithium and uranium," said Solis.
